AI Engineer - Agent Platform

At Shiftmove, we aren't just testing with LLMs; we are building a production-grade AI Agent Platform from the ground up. We are looking for an AI Engineer who can bridge the gap between experimental AI and robust, industrialized software engineering.

You will be the architect of reliability, ensuring our agents don't just "chat," but perform complex tasks accurately, at scale, and cost-effectively across our entire group.

What You Will Build

• The Agent Platform: Evolve our internal platform (Python/Google ADK) by improving observability, token optimization, and context management. You’ll integrate the latest models (Claude, Gemini, etc.) into a modular backend.
• Autonomous Agents: Design and implement reasoning chains and workflows. You won't just write prompts; you will investigate reasoning failures and build continuous evaluation loops to ensure accuracy.
• Reliability Engineering: Define the standards. You’ll implement the logging, monitoring, and security basics that allow our AI initiatives to scale without breaking.
• Scalable AI Foundations: Design reusable patterns, frameworks, and code that standardize how agents are built across the company, maximizing reuse, consistency, and velocity.

Your Stack

• Languages: Python (Expert)
• AI: LLM APIs, Google ADK (or similar agent frameworks)
• Infrastructure: Docker, Cloud APIs, Backend API Design (REST/gRPC)

What you need to succeed

• The Profile: You are a Backend Engineer first. You have previous experience building APIs and systems, but you’ve fallen in love with the potential of Generative AI.
• The Mindset: You are obsessed with failure points. When an agent hallucinates or an automation fails, you don’t just restart it, you find the root cause in the reasoning chain or the data flow.
• The Agility: You thrive in evolving architectures. You’re curious about emerging AI but disciplined enough to prioritize maintainability over hype.

What Success Looks Like

In the first 6 months, a high-performer will:

• Stabilize the Core: Reduce bugs and improve error handling for all agents currently in production.
• Ship Impact: Partner closely with Customer Support and Operations to deliver new agents that measurably reduce manual work and improve response times for customer queries.
• Shared Platform Ownership: You will work in a tight loop with the Team Lead and a dedicated AI peer to manage the deployment and observability of our agentic workflows. Your goal is to harden our infrastructure and ensure that the platform remains robust and maintainable by the entire engineering team.
• Optimize: Implement cost-awareness and token-reduction strategies that make our AI operations sustainable.
